Heya, I’m Vayda!
I grew up in the beautiful town of Bellingen, roughly twenty minutes south of Sawtell – one of four kids, raised on the beach and in the pool, constantly in swimmers and constantly sunkissed. Life’s been a whirlwind since day one, but I wouldn’t be where I am without any of it.
At 21, I started my own swimwear label, Veava (formerly VayKay Swim) – a small-batch, sustainable, handmade brand born from a dream I’d had for years. I never wanted mass production; I wanted pieces people would actually cherish. These days I sew every set of swims myself, right out of my van, while living full-time on the road. Pinch me – this is the life I’d been dreaming of.
Buying the van was partly a business decision and partly because, if I’m honest, I’m a bit of a sook for napping at the beach – and there’s no better way to do that than living a few steps from the sand wherever I park.
This site is where I bring the other side of that journey together: the places I’ve found along the way, the content I create for brands I love, and the little footprint I’m trying to leave on this crazy world – one destination, one story, and one handmade piece at a time.
I’d love nothing more than to take you along for the ride. Thanks for being here. xx
